Estrangers

Three years in the making, our band Estrangers knew the vinyl release for our sophomore LP Gilded Palms needed to be special. Though falling squarely into pop-rock territory, the album has no shortage of psychedelia-tinged and occasionally noisy moments. We needed the artwork to reflect this. And to look cool.

Captivated by the colorful surrealist style of Chilean painter and visual artist Matias Santa Maria, we were thrilled when he was willing to let us utilize two of his pieces for the album and innersleeve covers. We opted to use minimalist layouts and complimentary colors for the track list and credits, allowing the artwork to remain the focus. Selecting the color for the records themselves was the easiest part; surf green is one of my favorite colors.
